MP3 For Ringtones

November 7, 2007 – 7:12 pm

I’ve recently realized that my particular phone doesn’t require any type of manipulation to turn an mp3 into an accepted ringtone. All I have to do is make the transfer via bluetooth and I’m good to go.

So now, I’m looking to make a few of my own ringtones with songs I have that i can’t get online.

The only thing is though, I need to make the files smalelr, and the songs shorter. i know i can use itunes to use a much smaller bitrate for the songs, any programs that can take an mp3 and cut out specific little 10-15 second, ringotone-lengthed pieces of them and save them in a new files.

I looked around on the internet a bit, but mostly only found things for windows.

I’m looking for something free and pretty simple here. Nothing too fancy needed. just the ability to edit mp3’s so I can get little 15 second chunks.

What do some of you use for this sort of thing?
